Our Story

I Am Beautiful Because (IABB) is a women's awareness nonprofit organization that supports women and girls that have been victims of childhood abuse.  IABB offers restorative-oriented programming that aims to address sequelae of childhood sexual, emotional, and physical abuse through trauma informed care practices.  The three core focus areas of programming are Survivors, Families, and the Community. Since 2018 IABB has served over 500 women and girls, ages 10 to 65, in the DC area.

At IABB, we understand the devastating impact that childhood abuse can have on a person's life. Our program was founded by survivors, for survivors, with the goal of creating a space where healing and hope can flourish. We know firsthand the isolation, shame, and pain that often accompany the trauma of abuse, and we are committed to offering a holistic and empowering approach to recovery.

Our program is grounded in the belief that every survivor has inherent worth and beauty, and that healing is possible through connection, support, and compassionate care. We combine evidence-based therapeutic supports, trauma recovery, and community building to provide survivors with a comprehensive toolkit for healing. Our team of experienced and compassionate professionals are dedicated to walking alongside survivors on their journey towards wholeness, providing a safe and supportive environment where they can feel seen, heard, and valued.

We believe that every survivor has a unique story, and that each story deserves to be honored and respected. We are committed to creating a space where survivors can reclaim their power, rediscover their sense of self-worth, and build meaningful connections with others. We invite you to join us on this journey towards healing, and to discover the beauty and resilience that lies within you."
